Zaragoza International Exhibition 2008

Major global event

In 2008, the city of Zaragoza, Spain, will be host to the 2008 Universal Exhibition (Expo Zaragoza 2008), promoted by the Bureau International des Expositions (International Exhibitions Bureau), with the theme 'Water and the Sustainable Development of cities'. International Exhibitions sponsored by this international body are major events held every 4 years and in which countries from all over the world showcase their culture, businesses, products and services. Participant countries build their own stands and achieve a global representation, the result being an international top-level gathering in a unique business-fostering environment.

The theme of the Exhibition has utmost relevance, given the increasing interest in sustainability, not only in the public area, but also in the business world. Corporations from all around the globe are increasingly devoting resources, talent, research and marketing to foster and offer products and services related to a "greener" world. A number of companies already subscribed to initiatives such as the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), and are proud to include, among their corporate values and strategies, goals in the environmental and social responsibility areas. We also have economic indexes, such as the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), rewarding the performance of companies in these areas.

As often happens, it will probably be businesses, market leaders, who will, also this time, help drive change towards an increasingly environmentally-friendly way of doing business and a sustainable way of life.

Therefore, it is expected that a large number of companies will take the Exhibition as an opportunity to showcase their solutions.

To highlight the relevance of the event, the United Nations itself is adding its support to the 2008 Exhibition.

Needless to mention, this event will take place inside the European Union. Therefore, the EU is already providing its own support, and a great number of European companies and organizations will attend the Exhibition (known, in Spain, as the "Expo"). Obviously this one-year long event will also gather governmental initiatives and participation.

In short, there couldn't be a better place and time in the years ahead to make your presence stand out than Zaragoza, 2008 Universal Exhibition.

Also a tourist destination

Zaragoza, capital city of the region of Aragon, in Spain, is one of the main cities of the country.

Blessed with a rich historical, monumental and cultural legacy, its location within the region of Aragon (and of the whole north of Spain) makes it a privileged and unique municipality, both in terms of economic strength and as a tourist destination.

If you're planning to visit the 2008 Exhibition as a tourist attraction / cultural event, or if you'd simply wish to find a bit more about Zaragoza, please read (and see) more here.
